Viney Mathavan, MD is a board-certified general surgeon and is a member of the Naab Road Surgical Group in Indianapolis.
Dr Mathavan completed his Medical School from Government Medical College, University of Jammu, India in 1995. He was then House Officer in the Department of Radiology and Ophthalmology at Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu for one year. He then did his General Surgery Residency from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India from 1997 to 2000. He subsequently came to US with his family. He initially joined as a General Surgery intern at York Hospital, York, Pennsylvania and then completed another five-year General Surgery residency at Huron Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Health system, Cleveland, Ohio which he finished in 2008. He then did one year of combined Fellowship at St Vincent Hospital and Indiana University in Advanced Laparoscopy, Endoscopy and Ultrasound. He joined St Vincent Hospital as Medical Staff in 2009 with North Indy Surgical and has been working there since then. He recently joined Naab Road Surgery Group.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Americas Hepato-Pancreatobiliary Association and Indiana State Medical association. He is skilled in General Surgery, Laparoscopy, Robotic surgery, Oncology and Advanced therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP and EUS. He has published several articles and book chapters. He enjoys working with residents and students. He is Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine and Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Mathavan lives in Carmel with his wife Sonika and two children, Nandini & Aditya. They enjoy travelling and spending time with family and friends.
