Dr. Douglas J. Kaderabek was born in New York City while his Harvard
trained general surgeon father was completing his residency training.
He then moved with his family to Bedford, Indiana where his father practiced
until he retired. Dr. Kaderabek was active in scouting during his youth
attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
He attended Indiana University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of
Science degree. Before entering medical school Dr. Kaderabek spent two
years as a district executive with the Hoosier Trails Council of the Boy
Scouts of America. Dr. Kaderabek attended the Indiana University School
of Medicine receiving his medical degree in 1986. He then moved to Detroit,
Michigan, for his general surgery residency at the Wayne State University
Affiliated Hospitals.
He joined Naab Road Surgical Group in 1991, and since has developed an
interest in the surgical treatment of morbid obesity. Dr. Kaderabek is
board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. For the past two years, Dr. Kaderabek has also
served as Medical Director of the St. Vincent Carmel Hospital Bariatric Program
while the program earned recognition as a Center of Excellence. He is also a member of the American Medical
Association, American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic
Surgeons, Indiana State Medical Association, and the Indianapolis Medical
Society.
Dr. Kaderabek and his wife Martha have two teenage children and enjoy
fishing, camping, boating and spending time together.
